We know Scott from other local events we have attended and so we asked him to DJ my 60th birthday bash this past Saturday. Scott has DJ Ben run the party and we enjoyed every minute of it! He was professional to work with and he really knew how to keep the crowd grooving. Everyone loved the music he was playing which was perfect, and it brought the wild side out of everyone at the party. Scott was so great, I can't recommend him enough. He created such an awesome party vibe for our reception - everyone danced until the very last minute. He was very attentive to our requests, which was incredible because my family is Indian and he went out of his way to find fifty or so Indian songs to play during dinner/cocktail hour. We also had a Hindu ceremony which required very specific music and timing, and Scott handled it perfectly!! Everyone was very impressed with Scott. Besides that, he's just a lot of fun. We met with Scott twice before the wedding, and he was so much fun to work with. He's a genuinely kind and helpful guy. At the reception, he created such a good vibe. I've been to weddings where the DJ is very detached and boring - not so with Scott. He was partying with us and I was so sad when the reception had to end. Book him!
DJ Scott Topper was so fun at our wedding! We're both half Jewish and decided to do a Hora, and I really appreciated that he walked the guests through the whole process since a lot of them are not Jewish and have maybe never been part of one before. It was a big hit! He also extended two hours beyond what we booked him for super last minute, and I'm so glad that we did that! He was great to work with.
Scott and DJ David really rocked the party in Ojai. Our wedding dance floor was packed the entire night. And DJ David even played a few extra songs for us because people would not stop dancing. Scott was the DJ for our wedding this July of 2016 in Ojai. He was absolutely fabulous. We actually ended up finding him at the very last minute--just weeks before the wedding--and he was quick to respond and flexible in making sure that the wedding would be exactly as we wanted it. The evening of the wedding not only did Scott arrive early to set up and make sure everything was organized and ready to go, but during the event he really stepped up. We didn't have a wedding coordinator, and so he made sure to check in consistently with our other vendors and family members to coordinate the whole evening and make sure that it ran as smoothly as possible--and we didn't have to worry about a thing! My wife and I are from Philadelphia and we wanted to celebrate our wedding down in Santa Barbara. My wife researched for the best DJs in Santa Barbara and found Scott's show "It's Show Time!" and immediately decided that he was the one! When we booked Scott Topper as our DJ we didn't know how popular he was since he was very humble about it. Our wedding coordinator and our venue mentioned how good he was after they learned he was our DJ. When we met him for our first meeting he was very professional and friendly and he also revealed to that he was initially from Philly too! It was great to learn his history and also helped us learn how far his experience DJ-ing has taken him. We definitely felt very comfortable with him immediately,. He gave us a easy to follow and adaptable outline and he walked us through the process of how we can piece up our song selections per main events of the wedding and how he can adapt the flow of music selection depending on the schedule. It was easy to correspond through email and he was able to answer any questions asked by us or our coordinator. On the day of the wedding, he was awesome, all the music choices went perfectly well together and he was great as the MC too. He was able to work very well with our coordinator on keeping to the schedule. When guests requested songs during the dance section he was respectful enough to come to me and my wife to see if we were OK to push a song into the selection. Overall, it was a great experience having Scott Topper as our DJ and we highly recommend him to anyone looking for the best DJ around!
Scott was our MC/ DJ for our wedding 5/14/16 at Circle Bar B, just north of Santa Barbara. Our wedding was a total DREAM and this is in large part due to the amazing services provided by Scott and his team. We booked Scott for MC/ DJ, up-lighting, and a photo booth. Scott was extremely organized and responsive throughout the entire planning process. Scott provided outlines and checklists to help us get our music selection just right. We had several pre-event phone calls with Scott where we discussed timing, vibe and objectives.
During one of our phone conversations with Scott, he happened to notice a couple missing items on our agenda, and was able to make some valuable suggestions and contributions that ultimately made our wedding run smoothly and efficiently. The day before our wedding we decided to move the location of the ceremony and the dance floor. Scott showed up on our wedding day without any knowledge of the changes we had made, and without missing a beat, was able to re-calibrate his layout and get his equipment set up with out any issue and zero concerns. Scott's relaxed and professional attitude were much appreciated!

Scott was the DJ for our daughter's wedding June 30th. He's got a great energy and personality. He made it easy from the start by giving the bride and groom a list of potential songs they might want. They were listed in categories to simplify their choices.
He is charismatic and can really read the crowd. The dance floor was full on night.
When the party was coming to an end, and the last song was played the crowd starting chanting, Scott, Scott, Scott... No one wanted it to end.

Scott was so awesome! He was our DJ for our Awards Ceremony and Dinner for Yardi Systems. We were scrambling last minute for a huge star wars themed event and we didn't even have a chance to go through a dry run of a huge star wars production with actors and sound effect and star wars music. This review is long overdue, but I wanted to follow through and make sure this company gets the kudos it deserves. Our wedding was in September of 2014.
We got Scott's name from a very close family friend. He had been the DJ at their wedding and since we were looking for a DJ for our wedding, we were shopping around.
Scott was so helpful and was able to work with our budget. He constantly stayed in touch with me and was so understanding and patient with me when I was trying to work out the order of the wedding, cocktail hour, reception, etc.
Scott had another party that he was already DJ-ing on the day of our wedding, so he arranged for us to have DJ Katie. We were a little unsure about having a female as a DJ, as neither of us had ever attended an event with a female DJ. We saw a few videos of Katie at work and felt good about having her at our wedding. We were, however, pleasantly surprised at how well Katie handled it all. She was absolutely wonderful and EVERYONE enjoyed themselves immensely. She controlled the evening and made everything run so smoothly.
We were happy with all of it and we received so many compliments from our guests.
One aspect that really made the whole evening stand out from other weddings was having the party song before dinner was served. Have never been to a wedding that had dancing before dinner and it was awesome. Everyone was on the dance floor and it was so unexpected and enjoyed by all. Guests still tell me that was one of their favorite parts of the reception and I have to agree.
I learned many things while planning our wedding, but one thing I was taught was that you want to make sure you spend the money to get a great photographer and a great DJ. There are other areas where you can be more budget-conscious, but those two are the ones that you'll regret if you don't spend the money for outstanding quality. I wholeheartedly agree with this. Scott Topper Productions and DJ Katie were worth every penny. The DJ sets the tone for the WHOLE reception and Katie made ours memorable--a night we will remember forever.

I was the wedding coordinator for a wedding that Scott DJ'd. Scott easily earned a 5 star rating! He was also responsive during the pre-wedding coordinator, always answered emails promptly and answered all questions we had. The day of he showed up EARLY, which I love. Scott Topper is on fire! I have worked with Scott on more than a few occasions and this allowed me to see the professional side of his business and this guy and his employees are on it. They are punctual, detailed, and show up to do the very best job possible and the client's desires are never short changed. If I knew nothing else, this would be enough to recommend him without any reservation. However, I have also been on the other side of this as a guest at multiple events he was covering and as I said, he is on fire! He is funny, is able to grab appropriate little bits of music out during awards, announcements, etc. He can also engage the crowd with seemingly little effort and when it comes time to let the music roll, he is all over it. Having seen him work a few different times, I know he has tens of thousands of tunes and can bring the 80s--and I mean ALL OF IT-- if that what want or a broad mix of that is what you want. We were so lucky Scott was available to be the DJ at our event! I have used quite a few DJ's in the past, some better than others, but none as good as Scott!
He arrived early and was very flexible with the situation. Our event was a car show in a public parking lot that had no power! He was not troubled by that and figured out the best placement for his equipment, running an extension cord into an office.
During the show people and cars were coming and going, we held a couple of raffles, and a local councilman stopping by to give out awards. Scott took it all in stride, as I feel he would do with any event.
He played a perfect assortment of music (and had no attitude at all when requests were made). He handled emcee duties for us and was very comfortable in that capacity, as well.

DJ Katie was everything we envisioned for our October wine club party at Hilliard Bruce Vineyards. Scott was extremely helpful over the phone and communication was fabulous through the set-up. Scott was the DJ/MC at our wedding on June 21st, 2014 at Villa Verano in Santa Barbara and we couldn't have been more pleased. Having a DJ that could keep the dance floor packed and the energy high throughout the evening was extremely important to both of us, and Scott hit it out of the park. We had multiple people tell us how good the DJ was during the night and in the few weeks following the wedding.
In addition, in the months leading up to our wedding, we would attend friends weddings and were definitely more cognizant of the "little things" that go into being a great DJ that sometimes get overlooked. To start, he was very organized in his approach and extremely easy to talk to and plan with in the months' leading up. Scott Topper recently DJ-ed our wedding at the Santa Barbara Zoo and I'm so glad he did! To be honest, at first we were a bit nervous about hiring him. The zoo has a very small list of approved music vendors and you have to use one of them. Scott Topper definitely had the most professional website out of the bunch but we didn't really trust this mandatory list and we both had DJ friends of our own whose tastes we knew and liked. But,
Scott Topper ended up being perfect. He and his assistant moved things along seamlessly and the parts he MC-ed were fun and appropriate. We ended up feeling relieved that we hired someone who had wedding experience because he did a lot more than just play songs. He helped us during wedding planning to decide when certain toasts and events should happen. He even facilitated a very fun Hora!
My husband and I are music nerds and we didn't want any surprises- any songs that rubbed us the wrong way to unexpectedly play so we ended up giving Scott a really long playlist. We expressed our concerns and he said that because we had given him such a big list he wouldn't have to use any outside music and so we were able to relax knowing that only our picks would be played. It was pretty cool during the reception to notice some of my favorite songs playing in the background- I thought "oh, I love this song!" and then remembered that I had picked it!
The PA system ran smoothly during the ceremony and reception and there was never any dead time. At times I wondered how he was going to cue the music when he was on the floor about to announce something and then I'd remember he had his assistant who seemed to be perfectly in sync with him and what was going on.
I would recommend Scott Topper for any event. I would like to especially let couples who are getting married at the zoo know that if you are stressed about having to pick from this limited list of approved DJ's, don't worry! Scott Topper's your man!
My wife hired Scott Topper to DJ my birthday party at the University Club of Santa Barbara and he did an awesome job!! All the guests had fun and danced! He brought a photo booth that was a great addition to the fun activities and he set up amazing lighting that transformed the place and set the mood. Top 10 Things to Ask a DJ Before Hiring
1. Do you follow the American DJ Association Code of Professional Conduct?
Any legitimate DJ company will be dedicated to adhering to the ADJA code, as is Santa Barbara Wedding DJs. This is a standard business ethic, and a DJ company that is truly committed to serving you in a professional manner will honor it.
2. Are you insured and can you supply me with proof of liability?
Liability insurance protects both the client and the business owner. Many venues are beginning to require proof of liability, and you can ask for a DJ's Certificate of Liability for reference. We are happy to provide you with ours.
3. Are you willing to play requests and discuss music ahead of time?
This is a big deal for many clients -- after all, you want to listen to what you want to hear! An easy-to-work-with DJ will listen to your suggestions, offer feedback, and play from your desired song list. 4. Do you use professional equipment?

Have everything you want included in your service in writing. If you want a specific DJ from the company, for example, make sure that's in the contract as well. We recommend asking for a written agreement before paying any deposit. The typical deposit for DJ/emcee services is 50% of the total.

Don't be shy to let the DJ understand the dress code at your wedding -- whether casual, black tie, or themed. A professional will have no problem honoring your event's apparel style.
10. Do you belong to a trade group or professional organization?
Although this particular aspect likewise does not guarantee talent or professionalism, belonging to a well-respected industry organization can indicate the company's roots in the community.
